Chapter 54: Vow
by Yue Xia Sang

Ji Huan carried Hei Dan down from the ferris wheel.

As they were leaving the ferris wheel, Hei Dan kept turning his head to stare back with fixed eyes. Ji Huan rubbed his little head, “Why are you more reluctant to leave than me?”

After stretching his little claws up and grabbing one of his uncle’s fingers, Hei Dan was perfectly satisfied again.

He was such an easily satiated baby.

Chapter 53: Hei Dan Goes to Town 2
by Yue Xia Sang

The town was a distance away from Bade Town. Ji Huan knew it was there from when he had taken the train the last time. Compared to Bade Town, it was a fairly large city.

It didn’t seem like it’d been affected by the earthquake, that could be seen somewhat by the state of the people there.

Chapter 52: Hei Dan Goes to Town 1
by Yue Xia Sang

The courtyard was exceptionally quiet. The clattering from the kettle in front of Ji Huan was the only sound in the massive space.

Ji Huan was boiling water.

Hei Dan was tied on his back with a scarf. At the moment, he was scratching his head and looking towards the front from his back, looking like a little ghost hanging from his back. With his little claws clinging to his uncle’s clothes, Hei Dan glanced back occasionally, seemingly nervous.

Chapter 51: Truth
by Yue Xia Sang

“You, when will you die?” Staring closely at Ah Jin, Ji Huan suddenly asked.

This way of asking was so direct to the point of being rude that it made Ah Jin smile when he heard it.

“I thought so before: you… are really a blunt person.” His pure white fingers stroking his chin, Ah Jin turned to look at the courtyard scenery in front of him: “To the best of my knowledge, many people have wanted to know the answer to that question, but I didn’t like the way they asked it. In comparison, it seems that a blunt approach is more likely to move a person like me.”

He seemed to be thinking out loud.

Chapter 49: Bird
by Yue Xia Sang

The egg was one of the only things that Hei Dan had taken from the house. It was also the only treasure he had left now and Hei Dan treasured it so. It was only when he found Uncle that he carelessly dropped it from excitement, but he quickly remembered it and didn’t forget to pick it back up when he was leaving the cage.

Hei Dan wanted to give Uncle the egg. Uncle could peel the egg, and then Uncle, Grandfather and Hei Dan could eat the egg together.

In Hei Dan’s small mind, he thought this.

Chapter 48: Egg
by Yue Xia Sang

“Ah…” Ji Huan’s mouth opened, but only spoke one word before he stopped speaking.

Hiding in the familiar courtyard was the only thing he could think of at that moment. Even though he knew that he probably wouldn’t be able to escape, Ji Huan’s instinct was still to look for a way out for himself, Grandpa and Hei Dan.

The courtyard where he usually worked was very remote. So remote that, other than Ah Jin, he had never seen another person. Maybe, just maybe, there was a one-in-a-thousand chance that they could hide there from the others’ murderous pursuit.

Chapter 47: Looking Across the Water
by Yue Xia Sang

“How couldn’t I recognize Hei Dan? Hei Dan looks completely different from the others,” Ji Huan said quietly as he softly wiped the tears off Hei Dan’s face.

“Our Hei Dan’s left eye is a little bigger than his right eye!” While speaking, Ji Huan lightly poked Hei Dan’s eyelid.

Hei Dan blinked reflexively. With his big eyes gleaming, he looked much better than when he stared at people with wide eyes.

Chapter 45: News of Hei Dan
by Yue Xia Sang

“Save me!” The short-bearded man laying on the grass by the cage screamed out.

However, it was already too late. The first thing that the black devil did when it broke out of the cage was to bow its head and open its gaping, bloody mouth towards where he had fallen down

The short-bearded man’s screams suddenly stopped.
